collaged self portrait by artist Maureen Nathan

I am a figurative artist who loves to notice the abstract qualities in the world around me. Examining memory and the seen, my work is concerned with containment, holding, hiding and revealing, often using still life as a starting point to explore these concerns. As a multidisciplinary artist the use of differing methods and materials offer a variety of pathways with drawing being the connector between them all.
As an art educator I run drawing and printmaking workshops in the studio and online, am a member of the Artist Network initiative at the Royal West of England Academy and a member of the
Printmakers Council. I’ve been awarded artist residencies at Cill Rialaig, Ireland and JOYA:Air, Spain
